Art Atlas

App Design, UI/UX

An almanac for the slow looker.

An almanac for the slow looker.

Role: Solo designer & developer

Timeline: 2025–present

Tools: Figma, Lovable, Devin, Flutter, Supabase

The Problem

Art events are scattered across museum sites, Instagram posts, and word of mouth. I wanted one place to see what's on around me.

The Idea

Art Atlas gathers exhibitions, openings, talks, and studio events by location. Instead of a feed, it offers ways to wander.

Design Direction

An almanac for the slow looker. Each screen is laid out like a printed folio, with issue numbers, plates, and cover stories, over a slowly drifting collage of wall labels, ticket stubs, and archive stamps.

Type & Color

Four typefaces, each with one job: Fraunces for editorial headlines, Space Grotesk for body text, JetBrains Mono for labels and dates, and Allura for the wordmark. Light mode feels like an aged catalog. Dark mode, in deep navy and cyan, feels like a gallery after hours.

Key Features

Curated walks: routes through a city's art scene, auto-built where none exist yet Artist discovery: from one artist to the next Around you: a map of what's open nearby

Building It

I took my Figma prototypes to a working web app (Lovable) and an iOS app (Devin) on one shared backend. Directing two AI agents meant comparing their plans before building and checking results against live data. AI did the mechanical work, and the concept and judgment calls stayed with me.

What’s Next

Now in beta testing on iOS, launching in the US first.
