About the project
Every complaint gets an answer. A civic service concept that closes the loop on noise complaints in New York City.
The problem
New Yorkers file over 738,000 noise complaints a year, but once a complaint is submitted, residents rarely hear what happened next. The silence makes people feel that speaking up doesn’t matter.
The idea
HEARD is built on one promise: every complaint gets an answer.
How it works
Pick your noise.
Residents choose from categories like “Party that won’t quit” and “Car alarm opera,” so filing feels quick and human instead of like a form.
Track it live.
Every complaint moves through a visible tracker, from Sent to Resolved.
A nudge, not a knock.
Neighbors get a friendly, anonymous heads-up instead of a confrontation at the door.
Quiet Map & Quiet Hours.
Show when the city is yours to enjoy and when it belongs to people sleeping.
Process

Identity
New York’s noise is part of its energy, so I gave HEARD a playful voice instead of a bureaucratic one. A noise-wave ring replaces the A in the logo. Dokdo headlines bring a rough, street-level energy, Antonio keeps everything readable, and vivid accents on black echo the city at night.
Motion
I animated the identity and poster in Figma Motion, letting the noise-wave ring and type move the way the city sounds. I animated the identity in Figma Motion to tell HEARD’s story in a few seconds: noise waves surge and tangle, then slowly settle into calm, and the HEARD wordmark appears out of the quiet. It’s the whole promise of the service in one motion, from chaos to being heard.
Prototype
I built the interactive app in Figma Make to test the full flow, from picking a noise to seeing it resolved.
